The tour commences at the local, MAR Restaurant – only a 5-minute stroll from the central city and about 50 meters from the Elding ticket office.
Your table is usually booked 2 hours prior to the Northern Lights Cruise starting at 21:00. The meal consists of an Icelandic Salmon and also a choice between a glass of MAR house wine, beer or pop. Once you have enjoyed your meal you can start heading down to Elding’s ticket office and get your Cruise tickets.
Our excellent crew will meet you down at our Visitor Center, which is facilitated on board a fishing vessel that’s been converted and permanently placed by the pier. At night it takes on a magical form with a multimedia northern lights presentation. The 10-minute display includes pictures, time-lapse footage and explains the science behind the phenomenon that are the Northern Lights. The cruise will take you outside into the dark blue yonder of Faxaflói bay in search of the mystical Aurora Borealis, leaving behind the vibrant city lights of the capital of Reykjavík.
Seeing the lights always change in intensity, color and motion in the vast starry sky with the gentle lull of the ocean underneath is an exciting, unique experience. Our open top viewing decks supply the right stage for watching the dazzling spectacle while our heated indoor lounge is an excellent spot to take a break and warm up in between sightings.
Note there is no pickup provided for the dinner combo, but we offer a drop-off service for an additional fee (which can be reserved on arrival).
