Description

Starting from the Hallgrímskirkja Church at the top of the down town hill, our tour starts with a trip up the bell tower for an incredible view over the city and its colorful rooftops, the Faxaflói bay with its many islands and the surrounding mountains and volcanoes.

Afterwards we will visit the statue garden of Einar Jónsson and learn about the norse god myths (Thor, Odinn, Loki and the whole gang) before walking through the streets of Thingholt hill towards the Reykjavik City Pond. We will feed the many ducks (in winter only), geese and swans that swarm the northern end of the pond, great fun for kids and grown ups alike.

Continuing across the pond into the City Hall we will visit the super sized topographical map of Iceland as your guide will explain a little bit about Iceland’s fascinating geology and volcanic history.

We then threads the heart of the city taking in the Alþingi parliament, our modest cathedral and the site of first Viking colony in the city before visiting Reykjavik Old Harbour. Walking the north shore walkway from the harbour we will visit the impressive Harpa Concert Hall before our final stop at the Sólfar boat sculpture, overlooking the Faxaflói Bay and the Esja Mountain beyond the waters.

Pro Tip You can rent warm and waterproof jacket and/or winter boots in the online check out if you did not come prepared for Icelandic winter.
