Þórsmörk is a magical nature reserve set between three glaciers. The walley, wich takes it’s name from the Norse god Thor, is rich with geological wonders.
With its many hiking trails, this is truly a hiker´s paradise.Þórsmörk is a valley locked in between two mountains: the Eyjafjallajökull volcano and the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. And because it locked in by two mountains, travelers can only enter the valley from the south by crossing the ever-hazardous river Krossá.
Please observe that the river Krossá cannot be crossed by regular 4WD vehicles. If you try to cross Krossá in a regular 4WD vehicle it is not unlikely that the river will swallow you and your vehicle whole. But don’t you worry. Our jeeps will take you across in safe comfort. We will take you across the river and guide you through a live slideshow featuring the beauty of raw nature: attractive forests, poetic rivers and stately mountains.
Þórsmörk is one of the most popular hiking areas in Iceland. Named after the pagan god of thunder, Thor (Þórsmörk translates, roughly, to “Thor’s forest”), the valley often brings to mind the cinematic landscapes of the Lord of the Rings trilogy. The valley is sure to take your breath away.
