Iceland is one of the world top 10 whale watching destinations and with Special Tours’ 93% viewing success you are certainly in for a treat!
After watching the whales and seabirds in the whale watching grounds and the beautiful surroundings of our sailing area, you return to Reykjavik, fresh and excited for your next tour at approximately 12:15.
If you haven´t had lunch on-board, this is the time to go grab a burger or a sandwich at the harbour!
Pick-up by Mountaineers will be between 12:30-13:00 at the harbour itself.
Within minutes of leaving Reykjavik, the Super Jeeps are put to the test by climbing the 335 m/1,100 feet to the top of “’Ulfarsfell” when there, the visitors are greeted by the sight of the whole city of Reykjavik! You´ll then follow the hot water pipe line to its source the volcano Hengill and to Lake Thingvallavatn. You´ll get „a few“ at the viewpoint situated on the flanks of the volcano itself, where you can overlook the geothermal plant and the out-of-this-world landscape dotted with steam vents and bore holes.
Mountaineers expert drivers take you home to Reykjavik over the ancient lava plateau of Hellisheidi. On the way, if conditions allow, you will get a last smooth yet bumpy ride on the “Thousand Waters Route”, splashing in the river!
